Week 1: Course Introduction
Introduction - Let’s start the course by getting to know the Professor, De’Von Truvel, and sharing some fun facts about himself with the class. This first session will also review the interactive structure of the course and what to expect.
Week 2: Crafting Your Budget
Crafting Your Budget - Where does the Money reside? Making money is only half the battle. To grow your wealth you must learn how to manage and allocate your money based on your financial goals. In this session we will review a budget sample and the wealthiest person to ever live.
Week 3: Markets and Industries
Markets and Industries - The Business world is organized into different markets and sectors. Each adding their own value and each being innovated by the next. In this session we will cover some popular markets in business and ways to fuse them to disrupt the norm.
Week 4: Business Models
Business Models - When you enter any game you must have a strategy. In this session we will cover the different strategies or business models to monetize your brilliant ideas or gifts. Time has proven there are certain models that are more successful than others.
Week 5: 7 steps to Launch Your Business
7 steps to Launch Your Business - Now lets bring it all together! Everything you have learned in the last 4 weeks will come together in these 7 steps to launch your business. Some of these steps we have already completed and will review.
Week 6: Business Presentations
Business Presentations - It’s our favourite part of the course. We will have 10 scholars from the course present their business ideas and models and receive live feedback on their concept. We look forward to seeing all the brilliant ideas!

Black Wall Street The Board Game takes the history of Tulsa’s Black Wall Street and puts it into a family fun game! In 2017, after supporting The Village Nation Summer Camp, De'Von Truvel realized the history of Tulsa's Black Wall Street was not well known amongst the youth.
Enters Gamified Education! After a series of focus groups, interviews, and prototypes the First Edition of Black Wall Street the Board Game was made available in 2018.
The game will feel familiar to other popular financial games with some distinct differences. The first major difference is right away players need to make economic decisions, to be a customer or an owner. When you first land on a business you have two options if it is not owned. You can pay the public use price and use the business as a customer, or you can pay the purchase price and you can now own the business as a Sole Proprietor.
Play Black Wall Street Board Game Uses Real Black Businesses and Successful Black Entrepreneurs
Another difference is the use of real business structures throughout the game. Players can invest in their businesses to take it from a Sole Proprietor to a Limited Liability Company and all the way up to a Corporation if they own the entire market. We want to expose our community early to the idea of owning a business, even a corporation!
As a fun component to the game, we added the use of Venture cards. These are secret missions like "Own Madam CJ Walker Beauty Salon" that when achieved will reward the player with Venture Capital aka money! This helps to teach players delayed gratification and the importance of being goal-oriented.
The last difference that we will highlight without giving away all the secrets is that there is NO JAIL in this game. When we think about the legacy of Black Wall Street and the image of Black Excellence there is no place for the systematic oppression of jail or prison.

Hey Y’all thanks for enrolling in this fun and powerful course! My name is De'Von Truvel. Our team created Black Wall Street the Board Game back in 2017 to help increase the financial literacy of the Black Family. While we have hosted workshops and taught classes this is the first time we will be using the board game in a course!
